Solar Eclipse warning issued in US ahead of April 8
Warning issued for a period of three days — April 7-10
Ahead of the Solar Eclipse that will cross North America on April 8, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has warned of potential delays and disruptions to air traffic.
The clipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The total Solar Eclipse will begin over the South Pacific Ocean. The eclipse path will impact the United States from approximately 1830-1940 UTC.
The FAA, in a statement, warned pilots of the possible impacts to air traffic and airports along the eclipse path during April 7-10.
“…pilots should prepare for operational changes and above-average traffic volume at airports located along the path of the eclipse,” Obsev reported, citing a statement.
This includes Burlington International Airport, Syracuse Hancock International Airport, Indianapolis International Airport, Fort Wayne Airport, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Buffalo Niagara International Airport and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
Several hundreds of airports lie within the 50 nautical miles of the path of totality. It will cut across over dozen states in the US — from Texas to Maine.
