Mariah Carey celebrates the day she was born. But she does not call it a birthday instead she likes to label it an “anniversary.”
Taking to Instagram, the queen of Christmas posted a series of snaps that highlighted the celebrations of her 55th birthday.
Channeling her inner mermaid, the Grammy winner rocked an aqua-blue outfit posing behind dozens of giant rocks in the sans.
Captioning the post, “327 vibes,” Mariah’s birthday falls on 27 March. But the acclaimed singer previously had a different take on everyone’s special day.
“I don’t count years, but I definitely rebuke them,” she told Observer Magazine. “I have anniversaries, not birthdays, because I celebrate life, darling.”
However, she added, "Please put a LOL next to this, because people are going to be like ***?''
In line with her celebration, Mariah has marked another milestone in her storied career.
SoundExchange awarded the 55-year-old for becoming the top streamed musician in the music company's history.
"It should come as no surprise Mariah Carey is among SoundExchange's most streamed creators – she is an accomplished artist who has reached cultural icon status and that is reflected in the data," says chief of the organization Michael Huppe.
