American tech magnate and billionaire Elon Musk has been a major competitor of Mark Zuckerberg and their rivalry intensified after Meta introduced its own social media app Threads against X, former Twitter, last year.

Elon Musk reiterated on X, Tuesday that Facebook’s parent company Meta cannot be trusted.

A user on X uploaded a picture in which it was written: "This is shocking. Facebook gave Netflix all your private messages on Messenger in exchange for all your watch history, while Netflix paid them $100M+ for ads. Meta will sell your data at a heartbeat for profit."

The post was captioned as "Meta can't be trusted!" while there was a complete description of the Netflix and Facebook partnership about data exchange.

In response, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla wrote: "Nope."

In May last year, the 52-year-old billionaire said that Meta-owned WhatsApp "cannot be trusted," while responding to a post by the then-director of engineering Foad Dabiri.

"WhatsApp has been using the microphone in the background, while I was asleep and since I woke up at 6am [and that's just a part of the timeline!] What's going on?" Dabiri wrote on the then Twitter.

However, WhatsApp responded: “Users have full control over their mic settings. Once granted permission, WhatsApp only accesses the mic when a user is making a call or recording a voice note or video — and even then, these communications are protected by end-to-end encryption so WhatsApp cannot hear them."
