Oklahoma city’s planning commission has allowed the real estate company Matteson Capital to build United States tallest skyscraper in Oklahoma, New York Post reported.

Dubbed the "Legends Tower," this behemoth will be taller than New York’s 1,776-foot One World Trade Centre.

As per reports, the structure will consist of four towers, out of which three towers will be approximately 345 feet high, while the fourth tower will be 1,907 feet long.

The project will cover an area of five million square feet and is expected to have 1,750 apartments. The building will also feature two Hyatt hotels, a condo, and 110,000 square feet of commercial and community-use space.

In addition, the project also includes a lagoon, a nearby boardwalk, restaurants, a bar, and an observation deck on the top floors.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be $1.6 billion and will take between 24-30 months to complete.

Construction of the building’s two towers is scheduled to begin this summer.

Chairman of the Planning Commission Oklahoma, Camal Pennington has shared his concerns regarding the location, he said: "I’ll ask you the question that many people ask me every time this project comes up: 'How are you intending to build a tower this tall in the wind and storms and tornadoes we have in Oklahoma City?'"
