Emma Stone was surprised when she was asked whether she called Jimmy Kimmel a “prick” at a joke of his during the 2024 Oscar Awards.

Telling The Hollywood Reporter, the La La Land actress completely denied this ever happened after online speculations portrayed otherwise.

“No! I didn’t call him a prick," adding,...What did I say? I didn't call him a prick. I wasn't upset with him at all. I'll have to look that up."

For the uninitiated, Jimmy directed a joke at the excessive nudity and steamy scenes of the Oscar winner’s film Poor Things.

"Those were all the parts of Poor Things we're allowed to show on TV," the host quipped as clips of the movie were shown on the screen.

Cameras were quick to cut to the 35-year-old who was seen saying something to her husband Dave McCary which prompted rumours that she muttered "prick."

It is not the first time Emma's words invited scrutiny. Earlier, the Spider-Man star was caught in an awkward position when she responded to Taylor Swift's support for her at the 2024 Golden Globe win earlier this year with "What an ******, am I right?" she said in jest backstage.

But, some outlets, Emma says, gave a different colour to the phrase leading her to tell Variety, "I definitely won't make a joke like that again because I saw headlines that really pulled it out of context."
