Maya Hawke reflected on her parents, Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman’s divorce and disclosed her unfulfilled wish.

Reading an excerpt from Jordana Jacob’s essay Our Kinder, Gentler, Nobody-Moves-Out Divorce, the 25-year-old said it helped her understand the hardships of relationships, before speaking about her parents’ situation in 2005.

“My parents got divorced when I was a kid, and I am under no illusions. Or I’m under slightly fewer illusions”, said Maya during the latest episode of The New York Times’ Modern Love podcast.

Upon being asked by the host, Martin, if there was any ideal situation she hoped would’ve happened at the time, she replied, “I think the dream situation is captured by the filmParent Trap."

The said film is Nancy Meyers’ direction that involves two identical twins that got separated due to their parent’s divorce but later reunite during summer camp and conspire to get their parents back together.

“I mean, I remember so many hard days and fights about packing your bag... you forgot this medicine, and you have to go back and get it... and Sunday goodbyes. And then the whole day is gone because it’s all a transition day, where everyone is in strife”, said the Stranger Things alum.
