A new data revealed Wednesday about the path of Meta-owned social media platform Threads which was launched last year as a competitor of Elon Musk’s X.

The data showed that Elon Musk’s X, former Twitter, has been falling behind and is losing the crucial race of daily active users to Threads.

According to the insights by Apptopia, Threads have 28 million daily active users while X hosts 22 million in the US.

Threads was launched in July 2023, as a competitor of the billionaire Elon Musk’s social media platform as he started carrying out several changes that were unacceptable to the users.

Threads attracted millions of users after the day it was released, breaking the record for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool ChatGPT that was created by Microsoft-backed start-up, OpenAI.

Less than five days later, the application — which is attached to picture picture-sharing platform Instagram — saw over 100 million sign-ups.

X has been suffering a reported stagnation, according to the Washington Times, since it was bought by the founder of SpaceX in October 2022. Its name was changed from Twitter to X last year.
