Emma Stone reveals reason behind changing name

Emma Stone the La La Land star unveiled that she started her career with a different moniker but still 'love' to be called by her real name.

The Hollywood beauty and herThe Curse costar, Nathan Fielder, appeared for an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, and talked about her real name, which is ‘Emily'.

"I'd like to say something”, Fielder said at the beginning of the interview, “Her name's Emily, but she goes by Emma professionally. So when there's people that don't know her, I end up saying, Emma. But I'm going to just say Emily from here on."

Emma said that people who know her personally still call her Emily, "When I get to know them, people that I work with do [call me Emily]," she explained.

When the outlet asked the actress, “If some fan came up to you and said, “Can I take a selfie, Emily?” would you be like, “It’s Emma.”

Stone responded, "No. That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily."

Moreover, she also mentioned the reason behind a different screen name 'Emma' she told the Hollywood Reporter that 'Emily Stone' was already taken by another actor in SAG-AFTRA. "It's just because my name was taken," she added.

Previously, Stone told Jimmy Fallon in November 2018 during an appearance on The Tonight Show that she wanted to be called Emma when she was younger because she was big fan of Baby Spice, a.k.a. Emma Lee Bunton, of the Spice Girls.

The Poor Thing star said at the time, “Growing up, I was super blonde, and my real name is Emily, but I wanted to be called Emma because of Baby Spice and guess what? Now I am.”
