Sonja Christopher, the very first person who was ever voted off of the American Survivor franchise, passed away at the age of 87.

The official account of the Survivor franchise took to their Instagram account to confirm Sonja’s tragic demise.

Uploaded on April 27, 2024, a sweet tribute was penned to the series legend by the program’s host, Jeff Probst, underneath a picture of Sonja.

“Sony(j)a was one of the kindest people to ever play Survivor. Every interaction I had with her over the years was lovely. She would always greet you with a smile on her face and joy in her heart,” the tribute read.

Signing off, Probst further wrote, “I’m honored that our paths got to cross.”

However, it was current castaway, Liz Wilcox who confirmed the news of Sonja’s passing away on April 26, 2024 via her X, formerly Twitter.

She wrote, "Today, the legend herself Sonja Christopher of Season One passed away.”

“I had the pleasure of meeting her on Christmas. She had so much spunk + love for Survivor and what the show brought to her life. I hope you’re singing + playing your heart out somewhere beautiful, Sonja,” Liz concluded.
