Keith Urban recounts first meeting with wife Nicole Kidman in AFI speech

Keith Urban delivered an emotional speech about his wife, Nicole Kidman at the 49th American Film Institute Life Achievement Award gala.

During his speech at the prestigious event, where Kidman was honoured Life Achievement Award, Keith recalled their first meeting and early days of their relationship.

Keith Urban described his initial encounter with Nicole Kidman in January 2005, stating, "I was trying to play it cool, but inside I felt like I'd snuck into the royal ball simply because Nic had such a truly otherworldly aura about her."

Linking Kidman to 'real-life princess' Keith stated, "I felt a bit like I was meeting a real-life princess, And despite all of that, I did manage to get her phone number on a tiny piece of paper."

"I was scared. I was nervous to call her, I did, as you probably figured out, pluck up the courage to finally call her," he added.

Keith praised Kidman for her steadfast support during his treatment for substance abuse, crediting her love and strength for helping him through recovery.

The heartfelt speech moved the actress to tears.
