Nicole Kidman's husband Keith Urban recalls first time asking her out

Keith Urban unveiled the moment when he and Nicole Kidman met for the first time and he was 'scared and nervous' to ask her on a date.

The country star confessed during the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award gala where Nicole has been awarded with the AFI Life Achievement Award.

As perDailymail reports, the 56-year-old singer admitted that initially he was nervous about approaching Nicole because for him she was like a 'real-life princess'.

“I was trying to play it cool, but inside I felt like I'd snuck into the royal ball simply because Nic had such a truly otherworldly aura about her. I felt a bit like I was meeting a real-life princess,” he said.

He continued, “And despite all of that, I did manage to get her phone number on a tiny piece of paper. I was scared. I was nervous to call her.”

“I did, as you probably figured out, pluck up the courage to finally call her,' the country music star recalled.”

Moreover, he also paid tribute to his wife on Instagram for achieving another milestone. “In a career that's still very much in full flight, tonight the americanfilminstitute will honor my wife as the newest member in this extraordinary fraternity,” he captioned a photo of Kidman.

“Babygirl – I'm so proud of you, and as much as I could come off sounding like the biased husband, I'll let the list of previous honorees do all of the talking for me,” added Urban. “What a list!”

For those unversed, Nicole and Urban tied the in 2006 and share two daughters 15-year-old Sunday Rose and 13-year-old Faith Margaret.
