Christine McGuinness shares heart touching moment with her former addict dad

Christine McGuinness shared an emotional moment with her father Jhonny who walked for the first time on his own after battling his drug addiction.

The 36-year-old TV personality who has always been vocal about her dad’s drug addiction spoke to Spencer Matthews on his Big Fish podcast, as reported by Dailymail.

Christine said, “'The first time I've seen my dad clean properly was this year, and he stood up and walked towards me for a hug."

She went on to say, “And I've never seen him just stand up unaided before. It just took me back a bit and I panicked a bit and went "Are you ok?" and went to hold him, because wherever I've seen him before I've had to hold him or get a walking stick or he's been in a wheelchair.”

“There was just this big, strong man standing in front of me, and I kind of couldn't believe what I was seeing,” she added. “He's 16 stone, he's about 5ft 11. He was always slumped over and quite weak before.”

She also mentioned that now her father looks after like' a brand new person'. "He's always had his personality, but now it's just so much better,” Christine continued. “And he's so happy - that's the best thing. I love that he's healthy, but seeing him just really, really happy is amazing."

Moreover, Christine noted that her father is already ‘in his sixties’ so he has only ‘a good few years left’ to enjoy his life,she added, “I love seeing him, we laugh so much more, we talk a lot more,”

For those unversed, Christine publicly talked about her dad’s addiction in November 2021 and revealed that he used to inject himself in front of her when she was a teenager.

She also revealed that her father has never met her ex-husband Paddy and their children due to his addiction.

In February 2024, Christine gave the news of her father’s recovery after 40 years of struggling with addiction and shared a heartfelt montage on Instagram.
