Yousuf Raza Gilani receives threatening messages about son

Police say a case has been registered on the complaint of Ali Musa Gilani at Multan's Cantt police station

MULTAN: Senate ChairmanSyed Yousuf Raza Gilani received threatening messages on his mobile phone targetting his sonMNA Ali Musa Gilani, Geo News reported Monday.

The police said that a case has been registered on Musa's complaint at theCantt police station. According to the first information report (FIR), messages sent to Yousuf's phone bore threats about his son.

The complainant said that his father received threatening messages on his cell number at midnight between May 16-17.

According to law enforcement officials, the location of the number which sent the threatening message was traced in Khanewal district in Punjab.

The police said that they have constituted a team, underSuperintendent of Police (SP) Cantt Tahir Majeed, to probe the matter and search for the person who sent the message.

Musa was elected on the National Assembly seat in the February 8 general elections. Hewon the general election from NA-151 Multan 4.

Back in 2013, Yousuf's other son,Ali Haider Gilani, was kidnapedjust before the general election from near his hometown of Multan.

Gunmen on a motorbike opened fire before abducting Haider in a black Honda car. His secretary and a bodyguard were killed and four people wounded.

When Haider was kidnapped, he was campaigning for a provincial seat in parliamentary elections for the Pakistan Peoples Party. He won the last election for the Punjab Assembly seat.

He was freed three years after he was abducted in May 2016 by Afghan and United States security forces during a raid on Al-Qaeda militants in Afghanistan.
