116 power pilferers nabbed

FAISALABAD: About 116 power pilferers were nabbed during a week crackdown in the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) region.

A spokesman for the FESCO said here on Wednesday that special task force teams consisting of technical services, vigilance and S&I were constituted on the special directives of Federal Secretary for Water and Power Nargis Setthi.

These teams are taking indiscriminate action against consumers involved in power theft. These teams conducted special raids in various sub divisions and caught 116 consumers.

He said 37 domestic consumers in Chak Jhumra Sub Division-I, one tube well and one domestic consumer on Jhang Road sub division Bhakkar, 70 domestic consumers in Chak Jhumra sub division-II, 3 domestic consumers in Khurarianwala sub division while one commercial and one domestic consumer in city sub division were found involved in power pilferage.

The proceedings for the recovery of stolen electricity had been initiated, the spokesman added.
