ISLAMABAD: Chief Meteorologist Arif Mehmood has forecast isolated light rain with snowfall over the hills in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Makran divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during next 24 hours .
"Temperature of some major cities recorded on Saturday morning was: Islamabad and Lahore 12 degree centigrade, Karachi 17, Peshawar 13, Quetta 5, Gilgit 3, Murree 4 and Muzaffarabad 9 degree centigrade" he added.
Weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country during the last twenty-four hours.
However, isolated rain occurred in Quetta and Kalat divisions. Isolated rain with light snowfall over the hills is likely in Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Makram, Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan during the next twenty four hours.
The lowest minimum temperature of minus 10 degree centigrade was recorded in Parachinar today. Other cities where mercury dropped below freezing point are: Astore and Skardu minus 7, Gupis minus 5 and Kalam minus 4 degrees centigrade.
A spokesman of Pakistan Meteorological Department has said an active weather system is likely to approach western parts of the country tomorrow and it would grip many parts of the country on Sunday.
The expected weather system is very likely to generate winter rainfall at a number of places for three to four days.
The spokesman said that many areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would receive rains from Sunday to Tuesday.
