KARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued notices to Owais Muzzafar ‘Tapi’ and senior member revenue Shahzar Shamon during proceedings of the Karachi law and order case.
A larger bench of the apex court headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard matters pertaining to revenue issues in Karachi. Petitioner Muhammad Akhtar Naqvi informed the court that Owais Muzzafar ‘Tapi’ was the brother of President Asif Ali Zardari and the unofficial chief minister of Sindh. The petition states that ‘Tapi’ and Shamon are involved in the illegal sale and purchase of land in the city.
Naqvi told the court that the price of land on the National Highway was drastically decreased and there are several pending cases against ‘Tapi’, Shamon and others accusing them of causing grave lose for the government.
At this point, Justice Usmani asked Shahzar Shamon who Tapi was and why there was no FIR against him. Justice Usmani asked if Shamon knew who Tapi was. Shamon replied that he did not know Tapi and had only heard of him through the media.
