During proceedings today the apex court bench remarked, that the paramilitary force and the police were equally responsible for Karachi's unrest.

The remarks come as a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry continues to hear the Abbas Town blast suo motu case at its Karachi registry.

The bench also ordered the immediate suspension of SSP Rao Anwar and observed how a police officer who himself travelled in an armoured personnel carrier (APC) could protect the citizens.

“IG and others should have tendered resignations if they have any shame ,” the CJ remarked.

“Had government been serious, it would have suspended IG and others, Geo News’ Kamran Khan has opened our eyes,” the CJ remarked.
