ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said Thursday that elections would be held on time in Pakistan.

During the Federal Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Ashraf stressed that the media, judiciary and Election Commission were independent in the country and thus there could be no rigging during the elections.

The cabinet also offered Fateha for the victims of the Abbas Town bombing. The prime minister added that all political parties were playing their role for the eradication of terrorism and praised the All Parties Conferences called by Asfandyar Wali Khan and Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

According to the prime minister, the government had spent billions on development projects in the country during its tenure.
