PESHAWAR: An explosion inside the Jamia Masjid near Meena Bazaar has left 4 people dead including the Imaam of the mosque while 28 others were injured, Geo News reported.

According to sources, the explosion took place as worshippers were in the midst of offering afternoon prayers. The explosion took place inside the mosque where the prayer leader stands. The bodies and the injured have been shifted to Lady Reading hospital where an emergency has been declared. Three of the injured are said to be in critical condition.

The Target : Jamia Masjid Bilal

The Explosion took place inside the Jamia Masjid Bilal located in Mohala Baqir Shah near the Meena Bazaar in Peshawar. The mosque is surrounded by shops, and most of the shopkeepers offer their prayers at the Bilal mosque.

This part of Peshawar has narrow lanes and access to most streets is only possible on foot. Due to this reason the bodies and injured were carried out and then shifted to the hospital.

3-4 kg, ball bearing based device : IG BDU

According to the IG Bomb Disposal Unit in Peshawar, the bomb was a ball bearing based device, with 3 to 4 kilograms of explosive material.
