ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has sent its amended nomination papers for printing, terming the process of sending the amended nomination papers to the President as a mere formality, Geo News reported.

Speaking to Geo News, the Editor Investigation for The News, Ansar Abbasi said, that the Election Commission of Pakistan after deliberations sent its amended version of the nomination papers for printing citing clauses from the Constitution, as well as rulings by the Supreme Court.

Earlier the Election Commission had extended the deadline for amendments and the Additional Secretary of the Commission Afzal Khan had said, the ECP hopes the president would approve the amendments upon his return from Iran.

Meanwhile the Law Ministry had sent the draft of the nomination papers to the presidency which contained the amendments of the election commission and reservations of the ministry.

There had been a deadlock between the government and the electoral body over the changes in the nomination papers proposed by the ECP.
