ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has summoned a meeting with PPP leaders to discuss the deadlock between the government and opposition regarding appointment of the caretaker prime minister.

The meeting will be attended by Yousuf Raza Gilani, Rehman Malik, Hina Rabbani Khar,Khursheed Shah and other leaders.


The government and opposition have been unable to reach a consensus over the appointment of a caretaker prime minister and have till midnight to decide the issue.

After midnight the matter would be referred to an eight-member bipartisan parliamentary committee, which would decide within three days as to who will be the interim prime minister.

In case, the parliamentary committee also fails in deciding the name of caretaker prime minister the matter would be referred to the Election Commission of Pakistan, which would decide the name within two days.
