Raechelle Banno has shared that Nicole Appleton gave her blessing for the highly anticipated Robbie Williams biopic Better Man.
While having a conversation with The Times regarding Appleton’s involvement in the film, Banno quipped, "She was involved with the script; they definitely had her read it. It's her story, and it's important she has a say on how that's dealt with because there's some sensitive stuff in there."
The Pandora actress added, “There's enough going on in the world where women don't get a say in what happens in their lives. Even before I got the job, they [Gracey and Simon Gleeson, one of the writers] were very vocal to me that they wanted Nicole to be a character who had full autonomy; she wasn't just there to serve Robbie's story; she has her own life.”
“As we started getting closer to filming, they wanted to consult her and make sure she was satisfied with how her part of the story was being told. I really appreciated that. I believe she has seen the whole film now and gave her blessing,” she concluded.
Notably, the 31-year-old Australian actress Banno depicts the role of Williams' former girlfriend Nicole in the film.
Nicole went to the Better Man premiere earlier this month and posed for pictures with Robbie, showing they are on good terms.
At the event, Williams even showed gratitude to his ex for being "f****** brave" and "allowing" him to show their difficult relationship and her excruciating abortion in the film.
For the unversed, Appleton and Williams interacted with each other on the set of Top of the Pops in 1997 and started a nine-month romance, during which Williams proposed to her.
However, the couple ended their romantic fling after Appleton underwent an abortion in 1999.
It is pertinent to mention that Better Man will be released in selected US theatres on Christmas Day, i.e., December 25, before making its nationwide debut on January 17, 2025.
