ISLAMABAD: Following the orders of Lahore High Court (LHC), the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Monday placed a ban on airing Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain's pictures, statements and speeches (both live and recorded) on all TV channels.

According to a notification issued here, the PEMRA has asked the Pakistani electronic media not to air anything that is coming from MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

The media regulatory authority has directed all TV channels of the country to strictly implement the orders of LHC.

Earlier, a three-member bench of LHC, comprising Syed Mazhar Ali AKbar Naqvi, Justice Mazhar Iqbal Sidhu and Justice Erum Sajjad Gul had issued the orders while hearing three identical petitions filed seeking proceedings against Altaf Hussain under article 6 of the constitution.
