ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has stopped political parties and candidates from making personal attacks against others during campaigning.
The ECP states that personal attacks during campaigning violate the code of conduct and action will be taken against those who violate it.
The statement by the ECP came after President Asif Ali Zardari had written a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim. The letter written on April 24, asked Ebrahim to take notice of the negative propaganda being carried out against the president.
The ECP in its statement also condemned the blast outside the MQM election office in Karachi on Thursday.
