ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed preparations for the upcoming general elections.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim said Thursday that it was the government’s responsibly to ensure law and order not the Election Commission’s.

Ebrahim while speaking to reporters at his office added that the government and all others responsible for security had assured the ECP that the law and order situation would improve. According to Ebrahim the commission was ready to hold transparent elections if law and order was ensured.

The ECP held a meeting to evaluate the law and order situation and the printing of ballot papers.

According to ECP spokesman, the meeting chaired by CEC Ebrahim discussed violations of the code of conduct and steps taken to provide overseas Pakistanis voting facilities.
