KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Rashid Godil, who was being treated for multiple bullet wounds after coming under attack by unidentified motorcycle riders last month, on Wednesday said that he was grateful to the nation for praying for his recovery.

In a video message obtained by Geo News, he said the whole country prayed for his quick recovery, adding that nothing wrong could have happened to him as he has his mother’s blessings with him.

“I thank all Pakistanis who prayed for my life and health, I am grateful to them and believe that the Saviour is more potent than the destroyer,” said the injured MQM MNA.

“I have my mother’s blessings with me… your prayers are with me.”

“Currently I am having difficulties with my voice, the Almighty will make it better too,” he concluded.

Godil was shifted to a local hospital in critical condition after four attackers on motorcycles opened fire on the car of the lawmaker earlier in August, critically wounding him and killing his driver. The MQM leader was shot five times in the jaw, chin and chest, doctors said.

Rashid Godil was in his parked car at a traffic light in Karachi’s Bahadurabad neighbourhood when the unidentified men began firing. His wife was also present in the car but remained unhurt in the attack.
