KARACHI: A two-day health awareness training workshop was conducted at Karachi Central Jail (KCJ) to raise awareness among youth offenders about sexual/reproductive and mental health problems of youth and preventive measures aimed to help them adopt and promote healthy living practices.
The two-day workshop titled “Disease Free Life is Everyone’s Right” was jointly organized by Society for Health and Education Development (SHED) and Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh here at the Central Jail.
The workshop was attended by youth offenders serving time in the main prison of the metropolis.
Creating awareness among the participating youth offenders, the lead trainer of SHED, Abdul Sami Khan threw light on various health problems such as sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), AIDS, Hepatitis, coping with stress and emotions and creative and critical thinking. The young offenders were sensitized about preventive measures and preventive strategies.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Zaheer Babar, President SHED, along with the Jail Superintendent distributed gifts among the participating youths.
