EDINBURGH: Pakistan's one-day international against Scotland was delayed on Sunday due to a waterlogged playing surface in Edinburgh.

The umpires ordered a 1200GMT pitch inspection at the Grange after taking a close look at the wicket three times before the scheduled start of play.

Heavy rain in the Scottish capital on Saturday left areas of the outfield sodden, while there were also worries about the condition of the wicket.

The players took an early lunch, with no play likely before 1415GMT, but Cricket Scotland bosses were still hoping a reduced-overs match might be possible later in the day.

Pakistan, who won the first one-day clash with Scotland on Friday by 96
runs, are using the double header and another two matches in Ireland next week as preparation for the Champions Trophy, which begins in England on June 6. (AFP)
