ISLAMABAD: Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned to Foreign Office (FO) to lodge strong protest over manhandling of Pakistani diplomat in New Delhi.
According to the FO spokesman, Pakistan demanded impartial inquiry into the incident and bringing the culprits to book. Indian was told that the incident was violation of the Vienna Convention on protection of diplomats.
Pakistan has also demanded of India to provide protection to its diplomats.
Meanwhile, Indian External Affairs Secretary telephoned Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani and regretted manhandling of Pakistani diplomat and gave assurances for their protection.
He said one culprit has been apprehended and the incident is being investigated.
On Monday, First Trade Secretary in Pakistan High Commission was attacked in New Delhi when he was heading to his residence.
