KARACHI: The violent crimes continued unabated in the city on Thursday, claiming lives of five people while injuring six others.
According to rescue sources, more than 20 motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire near Tower bus stop, killing one person and injuring two others. The firing created panic in the area. The motorcyclists were able to flee from the scene.
The identity of the 28-year-old deceased was not yet ascertained while the injured were identified as 30-year-old Imran, son of Younus and 34-year-old Mehmood, son of Ghaffar. The body and injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi.
In another incident, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a hotel in Bahadurabad area, within the limits of Ferozabad Police Station, injuring four people out which two succumbed to injuries on their way to hospital.
According to a police official, Shahbaz, at Ferozabad Police Station, the deceased were identified as 50-year-old Abdul Rehman and 35-year-old Sheikh Munir. They run a showroom in the area.
Meanwhile, the identities of the injured were not yet known. The bodies and injured have been shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
Separately, a body of a 25-year-old man was recovered from Lyari Expressway. The identity of the deceased was still not known and was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
A 10-day-old body of a man was also recovered near Northern Bypass. The identity of the 30-year-old was not yet known. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.20-year-old Riaz sustained injuries after unidentified men opened fire on him near Malir Kalaboard. The injured was sent to Jinnah Hospital.
A man named Umair, son of Asif Aqeel, 25, was wounded in Liaquatabad C-1 area from firing of unidentified men. He was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi. (PPI)
