QUETTA: National Party’s Dr. Abdul Malik has been elected Balochistan chief minster unopposed, as no other candidate submitted nomination papers by the deadline set at 2.00 P.M in the provincial assembly on Saturday here, Geo News reported.

According to Balochistan assembly secretariat schedule, the election for Balochistan CM was to be held on June 9 at 11.00 A.M, but since no other candidate submitted nomination papers for this slot by the set deadline, he is likely to be officially declared Balochistan CM elected unopposed.

The oath taking ceremony of new chief minister will be held at the Governor’s House on June 9 at 6:00 pm.

National Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party of Mehmood Khan Achakzai had hammered out consensus on NP’s Dr Abdul Malik after several rounds of talks. Later, Mian Nawaz Sharif had nominated the Baloch national leader as candidate for Balochistan CM.
