KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, in compliance to the instructions of Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has directed the deputy commissioners and other concerned officials to initiate a crash programme for mitigation of dengue fever in the city.
He for the purpose chaired a meeting to review measures adopted for prevention and control of dengue fever, reported on almost daily basis from different parts of the city.
"If we can not eliminate the disease then at least should be able to have absolute control over its spread and intensity," said the Commissioner.
The meeting observed with deep concern that cases of dengue fever positive continue to persist in the metropolis despite the fact that the current season is otherwise dormant period for the climate-triggered ailment.
Concerned authorities were urged to investigate upon the changing trend and its repercussion with equal attention towards its prevention and control.
The meeting extensively discussed measures to prevent outbreak of any epidemic like situation, peculiar to post monsoons. (APP)
