LONDON: Sri Lanka scored 253-8 after being sent in to bat by Australia in the last group match at the Oval in London on Monday.

Mahela Jayawardene (84 not out) and Lahiru Thirimanne (57) led the batting charge. Left-arm seamer Mitchell Johnson picked up 3-48 in 10 overs.

Sri Lanka need a victory to join the already-qualified England in the semi-finals from group A. Australia must win in 29.1 overs to make the last four with a superior run-rate than New Zealand's. India and South Africa are the semi-finalists from group B.
