Royal fans are celebrating Queen Sonja of Norway's 88th birthday, which she marked on July 4.
The royal family honored her special day with an Instagram post featuring the queen's photo.
"Hip hip hurray for Queen Sonja who turns 88 today!" read the caption. As the wife of King Harald V, Queen Sonja has been the Queen Consort since 1991.
Born in Oslo, Norway, on July 4, 1937, she was a commoner before marrying King Harald V, then the Crown Prince, in 1968.
The couple has two children, Princess Märtha Louise and Crown Prince Haakon.
