Boat with up to 180 asylum-seekers capsizes off Australia

SYDNEY: The Australian navy has launched a search for up to 180 suspected asylum-seekers whose boat capsized off Christmas Island, rescuers said Tuesday.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority said two navy ships were at the scene 70 nautical miles off the island, which is northwest of the mainland. (AFP)
