KARACHI: A series of low intensity blasts struck wine shops in three different parts of the metropolis, sparking fears days before Eid on Tuesday.
Police said the three blasts targeted closed wine shops in Defence and Gulshan-e-Iqbal areas of the city on Tuesday night.
The two first explosions took place in the posh area of Defence while the third occurred in Gulshan-e-Iqbl within the short span of an hour.
Police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. SP Clifton, Sarfaraz Nawaz said that a young man, who had parked a motorcycle near the site of the blast in Khayaban-e-Muslim, was taken into custody.
Initial reports indicated that explosives were planted on a motorcycle; however police later claimed that the blast may have been caused by a planted device.
