ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued national identity cards to hundreds of people without verifying their Pakistani nationality, Geo News has learnt.
According to rules, a board was to look into the matter of those applicants whose verification process was not completed. By the time NADRA woke up, hundreds of ID cards had been issued during April and August this year without verification.
The NADRA headquarters realized its mistake in August and had asked its offices thorough an email to stop issuing the ID cards to those whose verification of nationality was yet to be completed.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is said to have sought a report from the authorities concerned.
