Reese Witherspoon pays emotional tribute to late mentor Diane Keaton

Reese Witherspoon paid a touching tribute to one of her "incredible" mentors in Hollywood, Diane Keaton.

During a discussion about her upcoming novel, Gone Before Goodbye at Hello Sunshine's Shine Away, the 49-year-old actress looked back on one of her earliest encounters with Keaton.

For the unversed, the Oscar-winning actress passed away at the age of 79 on October 11.

Witherspoon revealed that she was only 15 years teenager when she first met Keaton and went for an audition without any familiarity with anyone.

The Legally Blondestar recalled the conversation she had with Keaton after auditioning, "I came in with this big country accent, and I was playing this little southern girl, and she goes, ‘Who are you?'”

She went on to say, “I said, ‘I'm Reese Witherspoon and I'm from Nashville, Tenn. And she said, ‘Are you making that up? That accent you're doing?’ And I said, ‘No, ma'am. I'm from Nashville, Tenn., and I'm here, and I'd love to be in your movie.’ And she was like, ‘Well, you're hired. You're hired today, tomorrow, and the next day. I don't know who you are, but I am so excited to have you.’”

Witherspoon also shed light on the valuable guidance of Keaton, who advised her early on to "stand up straight" for right posture.

"I want you to have good posture. If you're going to be an actress, you've got to work on your posture," Witherspoon remembered Keaton's words.

The actress gushed that Keaton was one of the original people she had ever met.

“From Annie Hall to The Godfather to Something’s Gotta Give, she is just incredible and indelible," she added.
