KARACHI: Maulana Akbar Saeed Farooqi, spokesman of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) succumbed to his injuries after coming under a fire attack near Safari Park at University Road Karachi on Sunday, Geo News reported.

Maulana Farooqi was being treated at a private hospital where he yielded to his wounds.

Condemning the attack in strongest terms, the Chief of ASWJ Muhammd Ahmed Ludhianvi said the government has given liberty to the criminal elements to carry out their activities with impunity.

He regretted that the attack took place due to provision of inadequate security to the Maulana Akbar Saeed Farooqi.

The killing of Mualana Farooqi sparked protests in different parts of the country.
