Karachi: A meeting of senior police officers to review the law and situation of city was held on Tuesday at Central Police Office Karachi.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Ghulam Qadir Thebo. The zonal DIGs, DIG CID and other senior police officials were present.
The AIGP Karachi reviewed the strategy and planning adopted by the Zone East, West and South police to control crimes. The AIGP was briefed by officials about the eight month police performance report in detail.
The report said total 25,500 accused have been arrested since January 2013 in 15,748 raids conducted in different areas of the city. In 915 police encounters three bandits, four terrorists, 22 kidnapers, one extortionist were among 98 accused killed, while 530 criminals were arrested red-handed. The report said 608 gangs were also busted by police in the eight month.
According to the report 532 proclaimed offenders, 5,009 absconders, 67 terrorists, 4,578 dacoits, 37 kidnappers, 461 accused involved in murder & attempt of murder cases, 81 extortionists and 14,352 other accused were held.
The police also recovered 1508-kg explosive material, 238 detonators, 59 bombs, eight suicide jackets, three rocket launchers, 4097 pistols/ revolvers, 95 rifles, 92 shotguns & repeaters, 134 SMGs, eight MP5s, four LMGs, two G3 rifles and 54 knives. (PPI)
