ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chauhdry has said that judicial system is facing challenges like social evolution while rapidly growing Internet technology has also caused shift in social behaviors.
He stressed the need for introducing new laws, as the existing laws could not meet the challenges of new circumstances.
He said this while chairing a meeting of Law and Justice Commission here on Sunday. Chief justices of high courts, Shariat court and Attorney General attended the meeting.
The chief justice said that only a strong judicial system could protect people’s right. He said it was judiciary’s responsibility to provide the people with justice while the constitution also called for dispensation of speedy justice.
Justice Chaudhry said that there was a need to make the existing laws compatible with the requisitions of modern era.
