DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Polling for national assembly seat Tank-DIK NA-25 by-poll began on Wednesday morning here, Geo News reported.

The polling in Tank D.I. Khan by-poll started this morning at 8am will continue without any break until 5pm in the evening. This by-poll was earlier postponed on August 22 for security reasons.

Sources said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam- Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman voted in his native area Abdul Khalil.

Army and FC troops besides the police have been deployed at the polling stations mostly declared highly sensitive.

The constituency NA-25 comprises of the entire district of Tank and three Tehsils of D.I. Khan—Daraban, Kalachi and Paharpur.

In all seven candidates contesting for the seat NA- 25, where 366500 voters are expected to exercise their right of franchise. A total of 380 polling stations have been established in NA-25.

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s son Maulana Asad Mahmud and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Dawar Khan Kundi are the main contestants for this seat.

Sources said a local holiday being observed to ensure that people are able to vote with ease.
