KARACHI: Sindh Assembly (SA) on Wednesday unanimously approved the witness protection bill, Geo News reported.

The bill was presented by provincial law minister Sikandar Mendhro.

Speaking in the assembly, Mendhro said accused are acquitted on lack of evidence as witnesses are not provided protection, adding they are afraid to appear in the court.

Mendhro said this legislation was to provide protection to the witnesses, adding that giving safety to them will help bring peace in the society besides bringing culprits to justice.
