ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani Taliban have welcomed an appeal for a ceasefire made by prominent Ulema during a meeting at the Wifaq-ul-Madaris.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said that the militants would follow the suit, if the government ceased fire.

Mr Shahid also thanked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for his proposal to allow the TTP to open a political office. However, the spokesman said that the militia didn’t need such office in Pakistan.

He said that it was the unanimous decision of the TTP Shura to move forward as per the decisions taken by the all-parties conference (APC).
