CEBU: At least four people were killed when a major earthquake shook the Philippines' second biggest city, a local government official said.

Four people were confirmed dead and many others were injured at a fish market that collapsed, Raquel Arce, the market administrator for Cebu City, told DYSS radio station.

The quake had a magnitude of 7.1, the United States Geological Survey reported, downgraded from 7.2 earlier.(AFP)
