NEW DELHI: After doors were closed for Pakistan in Indian Premier League (IPL), the country’s hockey players also cannot participate in the Hockey India League (HIL).

No player from Pakistan was signed whereas 59 players, including 27 Olympians, from twelve countries were invited for the hockey tournament auction to be held on November 18.

Was there any threat from extremist groups or biased organizers? Whatever was the reason now Pakistani boys cannot play hockey in India.

The Hockey India League will be played from January 23 to February 23 next year.

This may be recalled that nine Pakistani players were signed for the first HIL but due to threats and protest rallies by an extremist organization in India they returned home without playing any match.
