Police arrest 11640 power pilferers during 3 months

LAHORE: Punjab police had arrested 11640 accused involved in electricity theft cases including 82 employees of WAPDA during the last three months.

According to police, the police also registered 11313 cases of electricity theft detecting power pilferers of about Rs 466 million. About 8732 cases were challaned while 2424 cases are being investigated.

The police also registered 838 cases of gas theft saving the department's loss of Rs 4.67 billion during the same period.

About 750 accused out of 1354 were arrested including 16 employees of the department. As many as 515 cases were challaned while 303 cases are under investigation, the sources added.
