DUBAI: Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq became the third batsman to complete 1000 runs in One-day International cricket during the year 2013.
He achieved the feat when he reached eight during his innings of 25 in the second One-day International against South Africa here at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Only two players – George Bailey of Australia and Virat Kohli of India – have scored more than 1000 ODI runs during the current year.
Overall, nine Pakistani batsmen so far made 1000 or more runs on 15 occasions in a calendar year. Mohammad Yousuf did it for four times while three players - Ijaz Ahmed, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Aamer Sohail - achieved this feat twice.
Besides, five cricketers made 1000 or more runs in a calendar year for one time. They were Javed Miandad, Saeed Anwar, Younis Khan Mohammad Hafeez and Misbah.
Misbah is the first Pakistani captain to achieve this milestone.
