ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have arrested 96 outlaws during last week for their alleged involvement in crime cases of heinous nature and recovered 164 wine bottles, two kilogram hashish, one kilogram opium, six vehicles, one bike, 16 pistols and fake currency from them.

IGP Islamabad Sikandar Hayat had directed all heads of police stations for effective steps to curb activities of criminal elements.

He also ordered for crackdown against proclaimed offenders and court absconders.

Following his directions, efforts were expedited for effective policing and remarkable success was achieved during last week through effective policing measures.

In crackdown against absconders, Islamabad police arrested 36 absconders while 13 vehicles with bogus registration number plates
were also impounded in various police stations.

Police also registered 68 cases and recovery of looted items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees was made. Police also recovered six vehicles, one motorbike, 164 wine bottles, two-kilogram hashish, one kilogram opium, 16 pistols, two rifles, one Kalashnikov, mobile phone and fake currency worth Rs. 198,000 from 96 nabbed persons.

Islamabad Police also apprehended 196 beggars during this period. (APP)
