ISLAMABAD: Anti dengue drive by the District Health Department Islamabad Capital Territory Administration continued here on Thursday.

Special anti mosquito spray teams headed by the magistrates conducted fumigation and anti mosquito spray in the rural areas of Islamabad.

Around 300 lady health workers and officials of union councils Local Government and Rural Development Islamabad Traffic Police Secretary Islamabad Transport Authority also took part in the drive against dengue.

In charge Dengue Control Cell Islamabad Dr. Muhammad Najeeb Durrani told APP that the lady health workers visited 16 schools and 730 houses today and delivered 114 lectures in the community for raising awareness about the preventive measures against dengue.

The teams removed stagnant water at various places and disposed off garbage dumps according to solid waste disposal procedure he informed.

He urged the citizens to take preventive measures against dengue and keep their houses and surrounding clean and germ free and keep water pots in houses tightly covered with lids.

He told that at present 32 dengue patients were still admitted to the city hospitals. Dr. Durrani said that 26 suspected dengue patients were admitted to the city hospitals during the last 24 hours. (APP)
